Well, Well, Well

To say it has been a while would be a complete and utter understatement.

I was reminded of my own blogs existence by Miss Kenli and since she needs to do some blog reading and I need to avoid my Introduction to the Essay midterm studying, here we are.

With 20 minutes left at work, I suppose I could post a few things I have been loving as of late:

  1. Castle: I effing love this show! When I say ONTD made me do it, I mean, ONTD MADE ME DO IT! I never even thought to watch this show until I saw the steamy kissing .gif from a few episodes ago between Castle and Beckett. I didn't know the episode name, so I watched 3 recent episodes until I stumbled upon the one I was looking for; by that time I was hooked. Seriously people, watch this show. The dynamic between Beckett and Nathan Fillion's Castle is hilarious and of course, filled with sexual and romantic tensions. I cannot get enough. 2. NARS Oasis Blush: I bought this blush over the summer from a reputable ebay seller and was not overly impressed when I received it. I tried it out a couple of times but went back to my typical rotation of NARS Orgasm or MAC Pink Swoon on the cheeks. About a month ago I decided to give it a whirl once again. Now I'm not sure if it is my new E.L.F. powder blush ($3 at my Hy-Vee) or just that it sits better on my foundation, but I am obsessed. Out of the last 30 days I have probably worn Oasis 25 of them. It is a really dusty deep rose color and while it looks really intimidating in the sparkle/glitter department, it is not. It gives my cheeks the perfect wind-kissed hue. LOVE IT!

3. Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Bourbon: Keeping with makeup and the rediscovery of items I already had, here is Urban Decay's Bourbon Liner. I got this with my Half Baked Palette a little over a year ago and did not like it. It is a brown shot through with shimmer and it probably doesn't help that my makeup pencil sharpener sucks epically. A few weeks ago I was getting lazy and did not feel like doing a full eye everyday. I started doing just my MAC Paintpot in Bare Study and then some MAC Blacktrack Fluidline, but sometimes black can be too harsh and gel liner is not that fun to apply when you are half awake. One morning I rummaged through my eye drawer and found this beauty and threw it on the upper lash line and then my waterline; I was in love. I love how it works with my baby blues, especially on the waterline. It is also really nice to smudge with a small brush, I can even pull it out into a nice, subtle wing. There is nothing like discovering things in your own collection when you are dirt poor and cannot indulge in new makeup purchases.

4. Going Cruelty Free: I was inspired by Michele1218 on youtube after she posted a video about why she decided to go cruelty free with her makeup, skincare, and haircare products. Unfortunately the video is no longer up since she received insane amounts of hate from people who did not agree with her own personal decision, but the facts and reasons for going cruelty free stuck with me. Luckily, most of the stuff I owned was made by companies who do not test on animals like MAC, but unfortunately I am on the hunt for a new fave mascara since L'Oreal does test on animals...bye bye Voluminous.

5. The King of Limbs by Radiohead: My fave band made a new album...what is not to love? Fave tracks: Morning Mr. Magpie, Lotus Flower, Codex, Separator.

6. Britney Spears: Hold It Against Me=Most played song in my itunes library. Till The World Ends=SLAYED! Seriously, I am so excited for the release of Femme Fatale. This may be another case of ONTD made me do it or rather, made me reignite my Britney Spears love. I stayed up all night over winter break with my ONTD friends in the post for the release of Hold It Against Me and it made me realize how much I love her music.

Is it going to change the world? No. Is it extremely innovative and is she an extraordinary singer? No. But it is fun and puts me in a good mood, which is what pop music should do. To me, there is a big difference between Britney and say Lady Gaga or any of her contemporary counterparts: I will always be rooting for Britney. Britney Spears came into my life in the 4th grade when all of us bought "...Baby One More Time" and called in to vote for her videos on TRL. She was so much a part of my late childhood and my adolescence and her music was part of the theme song. There is nothing that I can think of that would make someone truly dislike Britney Spears, The Person. She's made some mistakes, but that makes her human because we all make mistakes. The thing that really makes me love her is that she came back and she's better than ever. ALL PRAISE GODNEY!

p.s. This is totally my background right now and I am not ashamed.

I may or may not do a post about Fall 2011 Fashion Weeks, thus far I have not been overly impressed with any one collection, but Paris is not yet over :-)
