I was quite rubbish at doing daily NY fashion week updates, so I've decided to just upload the images that I've already saved to my computer, designs that I loved enough to save. I do this every fashion week, pre-fall, couture, and resort collection; the folder is quite insane. Mostly I save evening looks esp. red carpet potentials, but I do have some American Sportswear looks and separates.
Now, New York Fashion Week told me that for Spring 2011, the seventies and sheers would be back. If your collection wasn't seventies inspired with models looking like Bianca Jagger clones, then it was sprinkled with sheer tops and gowns; gauzy and fabulous.
My favorite collections from New York were: Derek Lam, Donna Karan, J. Mendel, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Monique Lhuillier, Ports 1961, and ZSpoke by Zac Posen.
Now here are my fave individual looks:

New York Fashion Week Days 1 and 2
Following the first day of NY Fashion Week, I was really only slightly impressed by Jen Kao's collection.
but then again I'm a sucker for a flowy gown of any kind with a structured bodice.
Day 2 brought more excitement in the form of Jason Wu. While there were a lot of sheer pieces, they could easily be thrown over something to eliminate the showing of skin. This season also saw the debut of accessories by Jason Wu, exciting indeed. Wu should have no problem selling yet another amazing American Sportswear collection to Niemans, Saks, and Bergdorfs.
Day 2 also gave us a new Ports 1961 collection which showcased a crisp and clean color palette and AMAZING SHOES! Especially the booties on Freja below. In the words of the fabulous Rachel Zoe, "I DIE!"

Living for September.
FASHION WEEK IS UPON US!
NYC Fashion Week has literally just kicked off in the tents of Bryant Park and the ritzy locals throughout Manhattan. I shall be perusing Style.com for the next few weeks as Spring 2011 RTW collections travel from NYC, to London, onward to Versaceland aka Milan, and ending in the fashion capitol of the world, Paris.
I find New York Fashion Week to be one step above London but nowhere near the greatness of Milan and Paris. Sure, I get Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Oscar de la Renta; but truly that is about all I really look forward to. Fingers crossed to a fruitful first week of the fashions that will dominate the season when I *GASP* graduate from college.
It shall be interesting to see if the 50s style silhouettes and fits along with curvier Victoria's Secret models a la' Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 RTW carry over to Spring.
Now waiting patiently for the first big shows and sure, I'll post my fave looks from each day...why not?
